Where We Are

Where We Are

The Rifugio Vieux Crest is located at an altitude of 1938 meters, immersed in a spectacular alpine setting. Situated in the heart of an ancient Walser village, it overlooks Champoluc and the Val d’Ayas, offering breathtaking views. Reaching us means immersing yourself in a place where time seems to slow down, providing a rejuvenating break amid unspoiled nature and centuries-old traditions.

How to Reach Us

To reach us, take the exit from the Verrès tollbooth and follow the road to the Val d’Ayas (SR45) for about 27 km. Once you reach Champoluc, you have two options:

  • On foot: You can hike up via Trail 13, which starts behind the Champoluc church. The path will take you to Refuge Vieux Crest in about 45 minutes.
  • By cable car: If you prefer a more comfortable ascent, take the Champoluc – Crest cable car. In this case, we recommend unloading your luggage at the cable car station before parking your car. You’ll find a large free parking area just 200 meters beyond the cable car station, on the left.

Important Note for the Summer Season

During the summer season, please note the Friday market, which requires vehicles to be removed on Thursday evening. At the ticket office, inform the staff that you will be staying at the Refuge to receive the reduced rate. Before boarding the cable car with your luggage, please call us to arrange for the luggage pick-up at Crest. You can contact us at +39 339 12 96 345.
