The Rifugio Vieux Crest is located at an altitude of 1938 meters, immersed in a spectacular alpine setting. Situated in the heart of an ancient Walser village, it overlooks Champoluc and the Val d’Ayas, offering breathtaking views. Reaching us means immersing yourself in a place where time seems to slow down, providing a rejuvenating break amid unspoiled nature and centuries-old traditions.
How to Reach Us
To reach us, take the Verrès motorway exit and follow the road toward Val d’Ayas (SR45) for approximately 27 km. Once you arrive in Champoluc:
Summer – Tourist routes
• Cable car from Champoluc (5 minutes, discounted tickets available) + 7-minute walk
• Trail 13B from Champoluc (60 min)
• Trail 13A from Champoluc to Mascognaz + trail 13A from Mascognaz (1 hour 30 min)
• Funicular from Frachey + trail 1 (1 hour)
• From Resy via trail 1 (1 hour 30 min)
Summer – Hiking routes
• From Gressoney-Saint-Jean via Alpenzù
• From Gressoney Staffal via Bettaforca or Rotorn
• From Valtournenche via Col di Nana
• From Chamois via Col Pillonet
• From Estoul via Col di Palasinaz
Winter
• Cable car from Champoluc (5 minutes, discounted tickets available) + 7-minute walk (microspikes recommended for mountain dinners)
• On foot from Champoluc via trail 13B (60 min)
• On foot from Champoluc via trail 13A to Mascognaz and back along trail 13A (1 hour 30 min)
